The Kentucky Legislature enacted a measure this spring providing a timetable for legislative bodies and fiscal courts to act on statements of planning goals and objectives and on proposed amendments once received from the planning commission as their final action.  The amended law (amends KRS 100.193 and 100.197)provides that the legislative bodies and fiscal courts must act within 90 days, and where no action is taken the statements of goals and objectives and proposed amendments are deemed approved by operation of law.  Prior to this measure, there was no timetable provided in statute.  

Ch. 167 of the Laws of 2008 (HB 322) was signed by the Governor on 4/24/2008.
