Upcoming National Planning Conference Offers Outstanding Legal Sessions

Although I routinely provide links for upcoming land use law conferences on a page on this site, I don’t regularly promote specific programs.  However, this year the American Planning Association has put together a comprehensive program for Minneapolis that lawyers and planners should consider attending. The conference runs April 24-29, 2009.

A day-long workshop focusing on the legal perspective on green communities will be explored in program entitled, “The Quest for Green Communities” scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2009.  The workshop description is as follows:

What is green planning? What causes climate change? Planners are focusing on reducing CO2 emissions by reducing vehicle miles traveled through compact, mixed use development. Examine the state of local government practice in how plans and regulatory tools address green planning and how livability goals are accommodated. AICP CM: law: 7.

Patricia Salkin, Associate Dean and Director, Albany Law School, Local Government Center, Albany, NY
