A new law took effect in April 2012 in Wisconsin addressing nonconforming uses with respect to shore land uses as well as general zoning provisions. With respect to general zoning, the statute now provides that with respect to repair and maintenance of nonconforming structures, “An ordinance… may not prohibit, or limit based on cost, the repair, maintenance, renovation, or remodeling of a nonconforming structure.”
