From Amy Lavine, Esq.
The New York Court of Appeals ruled today that seasonal snowmobiling use can continue on existing roadways on property that was recently acquired by the state and added to the Adirondack Forest Preserve. The decision affirms a controversial determination from the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation and the Adirondack Park Agency, and it dismisses challenges claiming that seasonal snowmobiling would contravene motor vehicle restrictions in the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan and the Wild, Scenic and Recreational Rivers System Act.
